Welcome to Wembdon Sunshiners Under Fives!!!

Wembdon Sunshiners premises

Our Pre-School provides quality sessional care for children aged 2 years 9 months to school admission age. The team provides a warm, caring, happy and stimulating environment to enable the children to learn, develop, explore and have fun! We follow a structured routine in which your child can feel settled with the security of knowing what to expect throughout the session.

Our children all have the support of a personal keyworker who will ensure your child's time at Sunshiners is an enjoyable one! Your child's keyworker will get to know your child's needs and interests and will encourage, support and extend all areas of their learning and development through play, planning activities and other opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

Wembdon Sunshiners Pre-School was established in 1974. St George's Parish Centre
has been the venue for our pre school and is now a busy, popular setting for under fives.
We are situated in a peaceful setting in the village of Wembdon on the outskirts of Bridgwater,
next to open fields, opposite St George's Church. The Village Hall gives us the flexibility of
a large hall, with a secure play area outside.

We are inspected by OFSTED and our most recent inspection report was on 10/05/2010.
We are proud to have achieved good with outstanding for the effectiveness of our partnerships and for the effectiveness of the setting's engagement with parents and carers.

Please see our OFSTED page for the full report.

The following is a quote taken from our ofsted report:

"The excellent partnership with parents ensures that each child's key person understands their individual needs and provides consistent care. Parents have very good opportunities to discuss their child's development and be involved in their learning. This includes stay and play sessions, and open afternoons, where parents can formally meet with their child's key person. Parents are kept central to all decisions concerning their children, including any additional support required. The special educational needs coordinator is very clear about her roles and responsibilities, and works closely with staff, parents and outside agencies to ensure no child is disadvantaged.

The group are pro-active in meeting with other providers delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage, to ensure consistent care and learning. They have strong links with the local school, which supports children's transition to school and provides support for staff in promoting the development of the more able children."
